On this DVD Masayuki Shimabukuro gives detailed and comprehensive instruction on the fundamentals of Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo. Demonstrated are correct stances, grips and swinging techniques. Shimabukuro teaches each technique in both regular speed and slow motion. In addition, each technique is performed as a solo exercise, as well as with an attacking partner. Different camer angles provide a comprehensive view of each technique, which is further enhanced by the detailed instructional narration. You will also learn proper standing and sitting etiquette, Jo posture, Jo Kamae, sword handling, sword strikes and 12 basic strikes of Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo.  

Masayuki Shimabukuro was born in March 1948 in Osaka, Japan. He studied Judo, Karate-do and Okinawan weapons as a teenager. His sword training began in 1975. Master Shimabukuro received the rank of 8th dan in Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu Iaido and Shito-Ryu Karate-do, and holds the coveted title of Hanshi in both Iaido and Karate-do.
