Master instructors Brian Ricci and Frank Gaviola of the Zen Bei Butoku Kai learned these forms directly from Hanshi Richard Kim of the Butoku Kai. Richard Kim learnt them directly from Toyama Kanken and Hiroshi Kinjo at the end of WWII in Yokohama Japan. Both Gaviola and Ricci have won several national and international competitions with these forms done the traditional way.
